April 2025

2025, May 18

Another month has passed and thankfully the weather is starting to look less bleak! With that, how did April go? How is May looking? Finally, did I make it to Nandos in time for their Fanta chicken?

In truth, its been varied with a mix of technical challenges combined with the usual day-to-day. My weight loss continues and I've managed to get myself into the 16-stone range (a significant milestone). I won't pretend its easy (and my tastebuds have taken the biggest hit), but it is worth it in the long-run.

My work on meshtastic has picked up again (though its still slow-going). Some more hardware has been added to the mix which should improve overall communication, and there are still a few tweaks to make to get things as stable as possible.

Some of my systems have been consolidated to save cost / simplify my infrastructure, which has been an interesting challenge. I'm reminded of the VMware days and seeing how many virtual machines you can run on a box before it starts to melt (thankfully I've not gone crazy with the overcommitment).

I've picked back up mobile phone forensics which I haven't done in many years, and it's interesting to see how the underlying technology has changed (mostly for the better). The downside is the cost of the hardware to work on things like this, but with any luck it lasts for the years to come and I can make further use of it for a long time.

The winter wheels/tyres have been removed. Partly due to the weather being warmer, partly due to the ridiculous quantity of potholes where I live. It genuinely makes a difference switching back to summer wheels / tyres, especially as having the car handle like a barge was frankly depressing.

As for Nandos, I can confirm that the Fanta chicken isn't for me, and that they need to bring back the old olive recipe (seriously). This has not been a change for the better...

Until next time ;)
