July 2025
As the wind bellows and I'm gifted the sound of my roof-tiles trying to launch themselves into orbit, I'm reminded once more that I have a few monthly recaps to write.
July was a quiet month overall, that for the most part left me wondering if there would be any sunshine this year... As it turns out, not really. The warmth from the fireball in the sky was as fleeting as money in my bank account (observed for a brief moment, then gone as quick as it came).
On the work front, things took a sadder turn as a long-term colleague announced he was leaving. As they were someone I truly respected / enjoyed working with, I was sad to see them go (but hopeful that whatever they do next works out great). As always the usual projects continue, with a view of the latter part of the year being busier than ever.
On the food front, the search for the elusive Fray Bentos pies continues. It's strange that most places have stopped selling the Chicken / Cheese & Onion variations, but I'm determined to find some. Spam has also become an interesting challenge after discovering that outside of the UK there are many different variations, which I now need to try (all of them).
Finally, the BMW has gone to a new owner. While it was once a nice drive, the latest software updates made it unbearable. I've switched back to something older (more on this in a later article) which thankfully doesn't have OTA updates (or enough warning bongs per minute to be considered an EDM track). Time will tell how I get on with this vehicle.
