December 2025
As the end of 2025 is fast approaching I wanted to wrap up the year with a few observations / experiences, ready to welcome 2026 (in the hope that it's a better year for everyone).
I doubt it has escaped anyone's attention that the global political landscape isn't as stable as it once was and sadly there are multiple wars ongoing around the globe. I truly hope that 2026 manages to restore stability / order while putting an end to the violence. I know it's wishful thinking, but one can (and should) hope.
Closer to home there is also the continuous increase in the price of goods (be that food, fuel, and just about anything else). The cost of living is increasingly more difficult for families to manage, and sadly doesn't show any sign of improving in the short-term. I don't have a solution to this (clearly no point in me running for PM), but I hope those in power manage to turn this around and ease things for everyone.
Looking inward, it's been a significant year for myself with both weight-loss and injury (thankfully not linked). It's nice to be in a healthier position regarding my weight / general fitness, even if they are overshadowed at times by other challenges. Hopefully I manage to keep the weight off for the coming 12 months (if only for the sake of my wallet).
I've also enjoyed being more hands-on with technology (and not just IT). Making a conscious choice throughout 2025 to go back to my roots and refresh my disassembly / repair skills (including working on the car). I'm a firm believer that all knowledge is perishable and that we need to be hands-on (regardless of the target). I look forward to continuing this for the next 12 months..
Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2026 :-)
